Abel Tasman National Park contains the Abel Tasman Cost Track, one of New Zealand’s great walks. It’s 60 km of ocean-front trail, beech forest, and incredible views. We chose to take a water taxi from the town of Marahau, where the trail terminates, up to Bark Bay and hike the 21 km back. The trail was relatively flat, which made for a long, relaxing walk. This was also one of the areas where we were able to most appreciate the lush, dense New Zealand forest.
